Like any other golfer out there, you would really love to improve golf swing because it will reflect on your score. More so, it is also one of the basic elements of the sport and it is what separates the mediocre players from the great ones. So what are the factors involved in a golf swing? The act of swinging is really similar to a whipping action. As for golf, the power for the swing usually builds up in the feet. This is why it is crucial that you really plant your feet on the ground. Then, the power moves up through the legs, causing you to thrust your hips forward. The power also radiates from your core muscles, as well as the chest and back areas. When it reaches the arms, it can very well swing the club at the rate you want it to. Aside from being powerful and strong, it is also helpful to be flexible. Once you are weak in a certain area, you won’t be able to hit the ball as hard as you want to and it will be much more challenging for you to direct it to the right spot. Balance and power are both great assets to have for this kind of sport.

Having said those, you should now realize that aside from spending some time in the driving range, it is also important to occasionally visit the gym for some strength and flexibility training. Do not mind the old- aged theories about strength exercises ruining your golf abilities. They are not true and they have been disproven. Even professional golfers acknowledge the importance of these exercises because they, themselves, have seen the good it brings to their game.

Below are some of the basic exercises you can perform to improve golf swing in no time:
1. Body twists- Position your body in its usual golf stance. Take note that your feet should be a little wider than your shoulders. Lift a 3 to 5 pound weight using both hands and place it in the middle of your chest area. As much as possible, extend your elbows out to your side. Then, bring the weight to the side as if you were swinging your club. Return to the starting position and repeat; this time, the other way around. Try to do the exercise for half a minute per repetition. Once you get used to it, you can increase the weight, occurrence and duration.
2. Body squats- Get hold of the weight used in the former exercise. Also, start in the same position. This time, go lower until you are almost squatting. Then, stand up, turn to the right and raise the weight over the right shoulders. Your hips should also follow and the weight should now be over the right foot. Just like playing golf, the left heel should be lifted off the ground. Return to the starting position and repeat the routine with left side. As much as possible, try to do this exercise fifteen times.
3. Increase golf flexibility- To improve your flexibility, try to engage in this very effective stretching. Begin the exercise by going into the starting position mentioned earlier. Then, raise your left hand and stretch it up. You should feel a tingling sensation on the left side of the body. Bring down the arm in an unhurried manner and do the same stretching with your right arm. Stretch for 3 times per side.

These are just some of the exercises you can do whenever you are away from the range. If you are really serious about improving your playing skills, then you would have to devote time and effort in both practice and exercise.
